About the qualification
TURVA is the entry-level qualification — it is the first railway safety training you complete. No prior experience is required. Minimum age: 16 years.
Track Work Safety Training — known in Finnish as Ratatyöturvallisuuspätevyys or TURVA — is the mandatory basic safety qualification issued by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (Väylävirasto).
Upon successful completion, the educational institution grants the participant a TURVA qualification, valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

The TURVA qualification is required for all persons working on or near Finland’s state rail network in track maintenance or construction work commissioned by Väylävirasto.
Yes. This course is conducted entirely in English. A Finnish-language version is also available.
The qualification is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
A stable internet connection, computer or tablet, and a working camera and microphone. The course is delivered via Microsoft Teams.
Väylävirasto also requires a valid Occupational Safety Card (Työturvallisuuskortti). These are two separate requirements.
