About the qualification

What is Track Work Safety Training (TURVA)?

No prerequisites required

TURVA is the entry-level qualification — it is the first railway safety training you complete. No prior experience is required. Minimum age: 16 years.

Track Work Safety Training — known in Finnish as Ratatyöturvallisuuspätevyys or TURVA — is the mandatory basic safety qualification issued by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (Väylävirasto).

Upon successful completion, the educational institution grants the participant a TURVA qualification, valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

Safety and operational cultureVäylävirasto’s safety culture and how it applies to day-to-day work on the rail network.

Safe movement on railway areasRules for moving on foot and by vehicle in and around the railway area.
